Subject: Online abuse, defamation?

Hi,
I'm not a regular in here, but caught the tail end of the usual
trashy usenet comment/flame posts, so decided to look up the
subject of defamatory posts, it seems it is a clear cut case of
libel? And many, many successful cases brought for online libel.
Just one example I found: A Mr Keith Smith of the UKIP political
party, was awarded 10000 pound sterling in damages for a
libel suit he brought for comments made in a yahoo forum.
Even though Yahoo removed the thread as soon as it was brought
to their attention, dispite posting anonymously, Mr Gardner gained
court orders for the posters ISP (ntl) and identity to be revealed
and the subsequent libel action.
Read about it here and other relevent issues:

Any comments? Views?
I should also add, my server dosen't allow crossposting,
so this is a multipost.
I'm in desperate need of some cash, so please feel free
to flame/abuse me.
Regards
Emma
