Subject: Re: Piecewise Linear Function of 3d Points

No this is not quite what I want. I want to attempt to fit a linear
function / set of straight lines to a set of 3d data points that may
have come from a mesh. So it is sort of like trying to find medial axis,
but rather than I want to fit the data with a set of straight lines. I
know I could find the medial axis then simply this, but again without
disclosing exactly what I am trying to attempt, I can't explain why this
is not a suitable solution. So for the moment I am asking given a set of
3d points say modeling an L shape, how can I fit a series of straight
lines through this. I have seen it described in 2d as multi-phase linear
regression, but I can't even find much more information about it and
certainly not for 3d.
