Dave and Hans,

Thanks for your time and input. I agree with Hans that is essentially
a point cloud reconstruction problem and I have since found a way
inside the CAD system to quickly find the boundary if I turn the points
into a point cloud. (I am able to drape a surface over the point cloud
with a fine enough resolution and then get that surfaces boundary
point).
