Adobe serves many different customers and constantly strives to provide tools that help them work more efficiently. In particular we heard from our creative professional customers who are already using stock photography in their workflow that they would like a more efficient way of searching for and acquiring images. This is why we have incorporated photography related tools and services in the new Adobe Creative Suite 2 products - including Adobe Stock Photos, the Adobe Photographers Directory, and links to rights managed libraries from leading stock image suppliers.
Adobe Stock Photos is presently an aggregator and distributor of royalty free images from several leading stock suppliers, and not an agency. Adobe intends to add a variety of new suppliers over the next twelve months to continually build the depth and breadth of images available to our customers. Over time, Adobe may explore other exciting business models (such as Rights Managed) that are also important to professional photographers. To help us explore how to include Rights Managed images in Adobe Stock Photos, for instance, Adobe became a “Visionary Sustaining Member” of the PLUS Coalition and a member of its Leadership Circle in 2005.
In conjunction with Adobe Stock Photos, Adobe has launched the Adobe Photographers Directory. The mission of the Adobe Photographers Directory is to create a comprehensive listing of professional photographers from around the world, and we are just now starting this process. The Photographers Directory is available online to anyone interested in finding a professional photographer; Creative Suite 2 is not required to access the directory.
We do appreciate your feedback.
