Subject: Some .NEF Files unable to view in Photoshop CS2

I recently installed Photoshop CS2 on my Mac and I am having problems with my Nikon D50. I have installed the 3.2 update which supports my D50 but what I have noticed is that I have about 11 .NEF files that only have can be viewed in PS, the others when I try to open them come up with an error (unable to open this file...). I had Nikon Capture 4.1 installed and opened some of these files in that program before installing PS. I was wondering if the Nikon Capture software may have corrupted those .NEF files and preventing them from opening up in PS???? It is just odd that it is only happening with some and not all of my .NEF files. Now, I did run the Adobe DNG converter and it did convert some of the "good" images to a DNG format, while the other "bad" ones described above it did not. In fact, I believe it converted them to a .WMP file (what is that??), I am still unable to view these in PS.

Also, what is the correct sequence of converting a .NEF (Nikon file) to a DNG format?? After downloading the images from my camera would I put those images in a temp folder, run the converter, then transfer them into my pictures folder, then open PS and Bridge to view them?? Or, would I convert them after I view the .NEF file in PS and Bridge???

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
