Subject: Re: raw 3.1 professional custom profiles for highend digital cameras
-->I would urge Adobe to do the right thing. Suck up and license the Canon SDK. Build an ACR-Canon so that photographers can see the exact image that their cameras took.
First, "the exact image that their cameras took" is a very dark grayscale file, and seeing it is about as useful as looking at a color neg with a slide projector.
Second, I'm a Canon shooter, and I'm totally confident that ACR really does produce the image I wanted when I shot it. If you want the results that Canon EVU gives you, you can save yourself a whole bunch of time and effort by shooting JPEG, or you can waste a whole lot of time and effort by using Canon EVU, but please don't advocate crippling ACR.
I haven't found any particular difficulty in getting ACR to produce the same color as pain-in-the-neck Canon EVU, but I prefer accurate color, which ACR gives me with a minimum of effort. If you just want Canon's look with better integration to Bridge, I suggest you ask them to build a plugin.
