Subject: Re: raw 3.1 professional custom profiles for highend digital cameras

Going back a couple of posts-- I'm a little confused (I always am) but I got lost in the metering conversation. I've always metered and opened or closed depending on the situation. But I have noticed that my handheld and histogram don't always jibe. And I've noticed that the histogram does some time lie as has been noted about the one stop factor. So I bracket a lot. My confusion lies in using my Sekonic L-508. I've read the manual and can't find anything about the meter reading the highlights as highlights- only as 18% grey. Short of using Bruce's result of 2.4 stops with my 10D(not that there's anything wrong with that if it works for the 10D), anyone have suggestions how I would either calibrate the Sekonic or how it might read the highlights directly?
I know I'm taking the lazy way by asking rather than experimenting but would really appreciate anyone's thoughts.

Thanks!
