Subject: Re: raw 3.1 professional custom profiles for highend digital cameras

So in practice: say I have two images which differ by say half a stop. The lighter image looks a little washed out and unsaturated before processing in ACR but is retaining all of the highlight detail which is recoverable in ACR using the exposure slider to say -.5 max. The slightly darker image looks properly exposed and better before processing. Is it preferable to retain the initially lighter or the more normal looking image in terms of colour and tone in the higher and middle levels, forgetting about the shadows where the lighter image will probably be less noisy?
