I would install the Canon Utility SW that came with the XT, then go to Canon's site to the downloads and get the latest version of ImageBrowser and DPP and any other OSX updates for their apps.
Install ALL of them, I have found that DPP does a nice job converting RAW and saw no difference between ACR either.
Plus if you like doing remote/tethered captures their software is not that bad, I was surprised.
