I cannot answer the questions about the size discrepancy between the two versions of Photoshop. But if higher quality large prints are a concern, then I would suggest that you change Camera Raw to 16-bit mode. I'm sure you are aware that you can also increase the size that Camera Raw will output to Photoshop. Working in 16-bit will give you greater control over some aspects of your images. However, if your machine is slow like mine is, you may have to decide if it is worth it. Also, I would recommend that you save your images as PSD or tiff images and only save as JPEG when absolutely necessary.
