To restate my problem (altho see above):
(1) no listing for "Camera Raw" in 'help=>about plugins' ... but the file "Camera Raw.8BI" does exist in the proper directory (i.e., it was installed properly by the CS2 installer).
(2) trying to run Bridge (standalone or via 'file=>browse' consistently gives me the Windows error message "Bridge.exe has generated errors ... You need to restart ..."

I cannot help but feel both of these problems are connected.

I've tried reinstalling a number of times, including disabling preferences and the activation, but this morning I began after reading the Adobe Knowledgebase article "Troubleshoot installation problems (Photoshop CS2 on Windows)". I freed up the required disk space, disabled many startup programs (utils, monitors, firewall, AV,...), moved most of my fonts, updated the Matrox video driver, ... everything I imagined pertinent. I re-installed via all defaults, and when that didn't work, I un-installed everything again and installed on a different harddrive. I am also aware Bridge has an update (1.02), and I've tried that.

Nothing I've done has changed either problem, and I am at a loss. If there is anything else I can try before re-installing Windows on reformated drives, or buying another computer ... or if there is any other information I can provide, then please advise.
