Subject: Re: ++ Debugging ACR 3.x Installation Problems ++

Jeff & Ian,

I traveled the following path: HD/Library/Applications Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS2/File Formats/Camera Raw. plugin. There is no accompanying text with the Camera Raw.plugin. It is the sole item in it's folder, as are each item going backwards in progression to Adobe. When I doubleclick on the CR.plugin, I get the message:
"Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

Might the 'attached text file' you refer to be in the Adobe folder? If so, in which sub-folder?

I wouldn't know where to look for Nikon D2X files.

Actually, CS2 will open my NEF files individually, but the Bridge was merely displaying them as file icons ( not thumbnails of the actual images I'd shot). I removed an alias of Camera Raw 3.1 from the folder of the Bridge, trashed it, and after doing so the Bridge is basically nonfunctional. I believe I need to uninstall CS2 & the Camera Raw plugin, then reinstall both.

I'm unceratain about how to go about uninstalling either of these programs without throwing out stuff I shouldn't as I apparently did w/ the alias icon in the Bridge folder.

I am working w/ a 30-day trial of CS2 so Adobe was unhelpful when I called them yesterday. They said they could assist if I bought the upgrade. I said I had intended to buy the upgrade but was reluctant due the problems I am experiencing w/ the trial version. I person on the phonr from Adobe did walk me partially through an uninstall/reinstall w/ CS2 & CR plugin. This seemed to increase functions but still didn't allow me to view images in Bridge. I did not right down the procedure for uninstalling and we ditched files from multiple locations. I've searched Adobe's website but haven't found any instructions on uninstalling.

I am most grateful for your help thus far and would appreciate any additional light you can shed on this dilemna. Thank you,
