Subject: Re: Camera Raw support for Nikon D200?
can i take the wrinkles off my wife's face
Most of what a RAW converter does is offer you an opportunity to change certain camera adjustments that you may have not gotten right when you took the shot. From the NEF converter your file gets turned into an 8bit or 16bit image that Photoshop (pretty well any version) can then work with. It's only the processing/converting the NEF part that Photoshop (via ACR) cannot yet do.
There are already a number of convertors available to do this and most offer a 15-30 day free trial. So if you REALLY need to process/convert a RAW file NOW, the necessary tools are readably available. Once it's output/saved as a TIFF you simply do with it what you always do using Photoshop or any other image editing app. So you're wife will once again be wrinkle free :-)
Sheesh folks.. it's not like there's no alternatives out there while we're waiting for ACR D200 Nef support...
