Barry, that's an interesting approach -- analogous to blending high contrast images.
I'd like to return to the thrust of the original question (as you redefined it): which procedures are best done in ACR, and which are best done in PS.
My preference is to do only color balancing, exposure adjustments minimal noise reduction in ACR. I leave the rest to PS because I greatly prefer the precision of the PS adjustments and the flexibility afforded by the use of layers.
In the view of the people on this thread, is there any empirical advantage to curves adjustments or saturation in ACR, is this this pretty much a matter of personal taste?
