I ran the setup disk again (it recognized that I already had PS CS2 installed
and went into repair mode) and it has made no difference whatsoever in
the Camera Raw problems I'm having.
Have you done the ctrl-alt-shift at startup to reset Photoshop's settings? I don't give this much odds of working, but it is easy to do and has fixed many a problem.
Removing and re-installing is what I would do at this point. You can remove CS2 completely, using Start>Settings>ControlPanel>Add/Remove programs, then re-install it again from the CD.
