Subject: Re: Archiving DNG files

Yep. LPs were around for a long time. 8-track tapes were common for less time. Cassette tapes were popular for an even shorter length of time. CDs were the next big media, but now MP3 files on tiny MP3 players threaten their existence.

Here at work if we need Gerber files brought up from 8" disks we have to send them out. We have only one 5 1'4" floppy drive in the building (where 1600 people work), and all new state of the art PCs are delivered without a 3 1/2" drive. True, it doesn't matter if your CDs last 125 years. There may not be any CD players as we know them in existence in 15.
