Subject: Re: Archiving DNG files

I hear that. Just a few years ago those that knew everything there was to know about CDs said they would last up to 125 years, and DVD sup to 50 years.

Now they say CDs are good for 20 and DVDs for about 7. I think this all came to light when a scientist from the UK got home from somewhere in South America and within a couple of months found a fungus growing in the layers of his CDs.

After a lot of research, they discovered that this media is far less permanent that originally thought.

I just wanted to be sure that someone hadn't recently discovered that the stuff I stored on CDs and DVDs using a Roxio program weren't going to evaporate overnight. :)
