Subject: Re: ACR v3.2 D2x white balance still not correct

I'm not aware of a separate Tint control for setting WB in Nikon cameras,
so I'm not sure what freelander was referring to unless he was thinking
of the "hue" custom setting which is something different.

I really thought it was there; but, I don't really bother with white balance when shooting, so I never actually tried it. The only time I really use manual WB is when shooting with flash, and then I just look to get it in the right neighborhood; the only reason it matters is because the D2X does white balance in analog. It's the only camera that does this, so it's the only camera in which the white balance setting actually matters to any degree when shooting.

I looked up "Hue" in the manual and it seems that controls yellow-blue, which is a bit bizarre since that's the same thing white balance controls. So I'm not sure what the point of that setting would be, but it indeed is not the Tint.

Odd that Nikon gives you no control over that axis either when shooting or in their RAW conversion software. Their white balance presets definitely do include Tint settings other than zero, though.
