Subject: Re: ACR v3.2 D2x white balance still not correct
Hi Jason ...
An example of our point being this. I have worked over 17 years in the
imaging and print industry at a high level including many years working
with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Quark.
that should put us in the same ballpark. wasn't it 17 years ago that Illustrator 88 was birthed into the world? :-)
eye think what has been attempted to be communicated is that there is no absolute correlation between the WB numbers given by the camera manufacturer and the output. it is offsetted by the camera profile, the algorithims used, and in some cases, as with nikon, these are blackboxed even further.
in other words, unless the methods and profiles are standardized, simply working with a WB number will get you wildly different results.
for the record, i'm a designer of books and magazines. i work with a wide range of photographers, cameras, file formats, and software. in my world consistancy is only relative to my workflow. the data always varies. i'm not sure this is the answer you wish to hear but i hope it's of some help anyway.
