Subject: Re: ACR v3.2 D2x white balance still not correct
I'm a D2x user and have been using Aobe products for well over a decade. I think the short answer to all of the above, bearing in mind what Thomas has said about ACR using a different profile to do its work than NC, is that we (D2x users) can have a picture that looks pretty much as intended or a numerical number that matches in camera settings.... not both. This makes sense to me as NC and ACR use completely different profiles and algorithms to reach their end results. The analagy of type face sizes doesn't really apply because of the different engines driving ACR and NC. In an ideal world there would be a common raw format and a standard way of interpreting that data but bearing in mind that some prefer NC's results and some prefer ACR's results from their NEF files there's always going to be some people not happy! I'm just glad that ACR can now get at my WB data..... Thanks for all your efforts Thomas.
