Subject: Re: ACR v3.2 D2x white balance still not correct
Using my 20D I also find that the white balance set by ACR is off colorwise. I don't care about the numbers, I have to spend a lot of time getting the colors right. I recently did a wedding where there was a combination of ambient, florescent and tungsten light. The ACR settings looked way off and after a lot of experimentation and fiddling I got acceptable skin tones. It seems never to be right in easier lighting situations either. Things always need adjusting and this is where I spend most of my time. I'll try EVU also.
PS I don't mean to imply that there is an issue with ACR. I do know that I don't know how the 20D determines WB and how ACR or any software determines white balance. I really don't know much about the in camera and in computer algorithms being used. I just know that I don't like what ACR is coming up with. DP Review points out that 'Canon still doesn't get WB right.' I don't know what that means exactly either. For example is it determined by averaging the entire photo (when set to auto) or just what is happening, I don't have a clue.
