Subject: Re: ACR Calibration

Les,

The blue channel varies quite a bit with exposure (which makes sense since blue is the least efficient of the three filters).

Converting my apples to oranges, I get

CRW_0728 (exp+0.3)

Red = 130 57 45
Light Skin = 167 145 128
Green = 77 124 61
Yellow Green = 144 171 71
Blue = 40 30 117
Blue Sky = 91 102 142

CRW_0729 (exp+1.2)

Red = 133 57 43
Light Skin = 170 147 128
Green = 76 124 56
Yellow Green = 148 175 70
Blue = 34 23 111
Blue Sky = 91 102 142

CRW_0730 (exp+1.4)

Red = 133 58 43
Light Skin = 167 144 125
Green = 76 124 56
Yellow Green = 147 176 69
Blue = 36 24 111
Blue Sky = 91 101 141

But to really prove that the differences are unit-to-unit, we'd need to be shooting the same target under the same light with the same lens. (I'm better than 80% sure that most of what we're seeing is, in fact, camera-to-camera variations, but some folks on this thread seem to feel that unit-to-unit variation is a myth, though they haven't presented any actual evidence either....)
