Subject: Pixel confusion/question

There is nothing critical about this, I'm just curious. On another forum people are talking about how the Fuji S9000 takes an 18 MP RAW image. They say that since the super CCD takes diagonal pixels, and since the computer can only work with horizontal/vertical pixels, that S7raw's reporting that there is nearly 18 million pixels is the true size of the RAW image. I don't care, my camera is taking excellent images. But I was wondering if someone could clarify this (apparent) size discrepancy. Adobe Camera Raw reports what I think is the appropriate size, the same dimensions as a 9 MP JPEG image taken by the camera.

By the way, support for the Fuji S9000 in Camera Raw is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
