Not so much adding new stuff though Bobby has some very workable suggestions. I despise that AI has exceeded its scope as an illustration tool and tried to keep up with the Joneses by adding PhoShop filters and the ability to handle large amounts of text among other 'features'. There are other programs that work with Illustrator to deal with those functionalities and are fully compatible.

My suggestions are more related to how good feature already work in ways that seem obtuse or attaining workspeed by having the ability to customize my tools:

1. DUMP the 'Average' pop-up window and its ridiculous have to click a radio button interface! This is only marginally better with the alt-h or alt-v keystroke abilities in the PC versions. Don't change the tool but put it in the Align toolbox where it belongs.
AND add the ability to align or 'magnatize' 2 objects to bring them together to their closest boundries, be it point to point/edge to edge/point to edge. Smartguides aid this ability now, but I always wondered why there wasn't a button for this.

2. Get rid of the 'live' pathfinder thingies. When I divide an object I want it to be divided and not still associated with its former bits. The holding of the option key (AI9 style) is a work-around I ALWAYS use.

3.The ability to completely fragment the vertical toolbox and re-arrange it with only the tools I want and/or the ability to make toolbuttons of things from the Pathfinder and Align windows. At-will window edge docking ala AutoCAD might be a viable solution also.

4. Unlike Rydog23, I have NEVER had a use for the 'arrow +'. It rarely abuses me. Pehaps I should re-evaluate its use after 15+ years...?

5. Illustrator 9 simply rocked. All the tools worked exactly how I wanted (except as noted above) and there wasn't too much of the what-the-hell-is-that-for-shiney-stuff I don't need to get my illustrating done.....Oh yeah....Bring back the Venus logo and dump the cutesy flower.
