Subject: Re: When is the right time to convert to DNG
I still haven't made up my mind about switching over to using DNG exclusively like some people have done. Camera Raw supports my camera. So as far as I can see, the only real advantage to my switching to DNG is to save about 30 percent of my storage space because the DNG files are smaller. Many people are forced to use the DNG converter to convert their RAW files so that their version of Camera Raw can be used. I know there are some who have chosen to use DNG files exclusively. I don't know that there is any real advantage to that, but I also don't know if there are any disadvantages. I use DNG, and then for a while I will just use the RAW files that come from my camera. But then, I'm not a professional photographer.
