Subject: DNG does not work correctly with Aperture?

I have Apple Aperture and it can not yet read ORF files from the Olympus E-500. I have converted some of these files to DNG. Aperture will read DNG files from other cameras, but will not read them fom the E-500 (it reports "Unsupported Image Format")..

I don't understand why Aperture won't recognize DNG files created from E-500 ORF files. I thought the purpose of DNG was to allow files to be recovered when you no longer had software to convert the original camera raw files and that when converted to DNG all files were in the same format regardless of the original Raw version (e.g. a Canon D50 raw file and an E-500 raw file once converted to DNG are in the same format) So Aperture should be able to open any DNG file regardless of whether it can open that file's original raw format. What could be the problem?
