Subject: Compressed DNG is larger than original RAW file!

Whenever I convert a RAW file from my Canon 20D (.CR2 files), use lossless compression and embed a full-size JPG preview, I wind up with a DNG file that is anywhere between 500KB and 1.5MB larger than my original CR2 raw file. I'm running CS2 on a powerbook with 10.4.4, and have installed all the latest updates to camera raw and the DNG converter.

I'm not embedding the original RAW file.

Is this cause for worry or is it normal? I've tried to find answers on a few forums to no avail. I did find an article on a photoshop user site (I can't remember which off-hand) that said Nikon D70 users might experience an increase in file size due to the compression algorithms that Nikon's raw files use, but it said nothing about Canon 20D raw compression.

Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this, or if it might just be normal for CR2 files?
